The Challange
Filmbankmedia (FBM) are one of only two sellers of non-theatrical film licensing within the UK. The company is a JV between Warner Bros and Sony Pictures.
A notoriously complicated and nuanced industry, FBM were in need of a digital solution that could handle the complexities of content licensing, while presenting a simple and intuitive booking platform to their customer base.
At the point Recursive were appointed, FBM had already invested heavily in a solution that had failed to deliver. Starting on the back foot, we were able to deliver a complex project within budget.
What did
Recursive do
Process Definition and Requirement Elicitation – Recursive designed processes that translated manual activities into systematised solutions
Solution Architecture – Recursive devised use cases, process models, data models and object state diagrams that met the objectives of the business
RFP – Recursive documented and managed the end to end RFP process for the website and booking platform. The documentation provided the foundations for scope, at a level of detail that meant the deliverables fell within budget while accomplishing the business objectives
Supplier management – Recursive acted as the primary product manager during the implementation, working hand in hand with two external suppliers. Through effective backlog management, detailed PBI’s and clear objectives, each sprint cycle resulted in tangible deliverables
Testing – Through a combination of black box testing and automated testing, Recursive were responsible for end to end QA. The final deliverable was exceptionally robust with no reported defects at Go-Live
Data Migration – Having devised the data model, Recursive were best positioned to perform extraction and transformation of source data from two systems, mapping them to destination in a way that supported future ways of working
Low Fidelity Prototyping – To support functional deliverables, prototypes were designed in advance, this gave the UX team a springboard, expediating the design process and saving additional expense
Exceptional. Recursive delivered a project where others had failed, and they did it with ease. By the time they were appointed, the internal team were already fatigued from a previous attempt
